At Relative Memories, we do more than just record someone’s story. Every film is created through hours of research and preparation, professional filming, careful editing and piecing together the best photographs, home videos and other treasured pieces of the past. We put time and care into every movie we make, creating something that feels personal, authentic and made to be cherished.
it started with a box of old film...
Hundreds of slides from my dad's childhood in East Africa, his adventures around Europe and university days with friends. Photographs to pair with all the stories I'd grown up listening to. As I flicked through the box and saw faces of relatives I'd never met, places I've never been, and moments that meant so much to my dad, it occurred to me that these stories needed to be preserved. If they weren't, one day they'd be gone forever, and this would become just a dusty old box of slides. It was from this realisation that Relative Memories was born.
Why We exist
A name on the family tree is not the same as knowing who someone was.
Most families have only the names and photographs of the people who came before them. Very few have their stories. Their humour. Their laughter. Their lessons. Their advice. The way their eyes light up at the mention of a place, or tell a joke only they would tell.
We help families preserve those things while they still can.
There are no recordings. No videos of her; no way to hear her voice again.
Now she's gone, her stories and spirit are gone forever.
